Copper was one of the first metals to be worked and the discovery that alloying the metal with tin produced a stronger metal than either of its’ constituents led to the Bronze Age. Copper is a malleable, ductile metal with high thermal and electrical conductivity. Indeed electrical wiring is one of the major uses of copper. It has been used as a coinage metal throughout history, along with silver and gold and is one of an elite group of coloured metals (caesium, gold and osmium being the others).
These 55mm x 35mm cylinders are manufactured from 99% copper with 1% zinc added to improve workability. Since copper will tarnish in air, we apply a protective clear lacquer after polishing.
