Zirconium is a strong, malleable, ductile, lustrous metal that is extremely resistant to heat and corrosion. The element is not uncommon and its chief ore, zircon, is usually used directly in commercial applications exploiting its resistance to high temperatures and chemical attack.
Zirconium is closely associated with hafnium, which lies beneath it in the Periodic Table. Due to their chemical similarity zirconium usually contains hafnium as an impurity and vice versa.
This cylinder is manufactured from 99.2% Zr + Hf with a maximum hafnium content of 4.5%.
